We stopped at Long Beach, Washington.
It was very windy and the waves of the Pacific Ocean roared.
We stopped so we could visit the World Kite Museum.
I have been looking forward to seeing this museum.

I was inspired at the Kite Museum.
Local artist sell their creations in the gift shop.
They are not available on line just yet.
This is a busy beach town!

There are kites that have saved people.
The kite is an important part of our history.
Plus they are beautiful!
There are so many different styles.
This is a Wau Bulan or Moon Kite, from Malaysia. 
I love the way the Chinese have meanings for their symbols.
These are still made and flown today.

I brought home two small silk kites for my travel room.
They mean, "Happy Memories."
I could attend a conference and learn to make kites.
I could meet other kite people.
I would love to raise kites in the backyard!

Oh what beautiful kites Sherry. When our children were young, we would take our kites to the park - such fun! I love the last sign :-) Kite people have good senses of humour too - I suppose because they take themselves lightly :-)
I just love kites too Sherry. One of my few memories of my Dad was when he took me to a hill on a windy day to fly a kite. The colors of the kite, the wheat in the field was too high for my little legs to navigate quickly and the wind...

Those are some lovely kites. I'm trying to remember if Long Beach is where we bought our current kite. One of those octagon shaped things that twirls and dips. Out little guy loves taking it to the nearby bluff and watching in tumble in the wind.
How wonderful Sherry! I love the kites you posted, they're more than beautiful. I'd be afraid I'd destroy them if I flew them;-) I have always enjoyed kiteflying. In my experience, I've had good times in big fields or on the beach where there weren't many people! Thanks for sharing!

I love the sight of kites in the air on a spring day, and it brings back lots of wonderful family memories. These are beautiful! This museum looks fascinating, a wonderful place to dream.
I like your kite tale! Raising kites in the backyard - LOL! All this is very interesting. I too like that the Chinese give meaning to their symbols.

Kite flying is very, very fun. I think I enjoy watching the kite fly as much as actually flying her.
The kids seemed to enjoy the museum as much as I. My daughter bought a book on the physics of kite flying...very interesting.

I was happy to find the little silk kites. My suitcases were already full and I needed small pretties. Two tiny kites flying in my travel room will remind me of Long Beach and I will once again be "up up and away."

Kites do bring back memories.
The museum was very interesting.
I am looking forward to making my own kite some day. I wonder if I could knit a kite? An Alpaca kite would be so soft! I am dreaming of an Alpaca knitted kite blanket for my March bed.....

My wall kites have been up in the air...they are big.
My group of, "grab a kite and go fly" are in bright colors.
I did a post about them on Corner last year or was it the year before???
