Mammoth Site

I dearly love the Mammoth.
Coming to this active dig site was a dream come true.

Walking around the dig made me want to get down on my knees and get to work.
There are so many bones in this sink hole that active digging is done only in July.
The rest of the year is spent processing all the bones.

The interpretive center was just as fascinating as the dig.

I am still thinking about Mammoth bone houses.

The Mammoth Hunters, the Clovis Tradition Paleo-Indians, are my favorite ancient ones. I am drawn to their story.

Dear Sherry,

I also love the mammoth.....such a fascinating post.
I would also have loved to join in the dig. Can you imagine???

When we went on safari in South Africa we came very close to the elephants. Around ten yards.
I found the whole trip amazing.....this is the nearest we can get to a mammoth today:)

Dear Cheryl,
We are Mammoth lovers.....
I am thinking about maybe going on some sort of fossil dig with a group. I need to join a gem and mineral club.
It would be cool.
I bet your time in South Africa was awesome...Elephants so close...wow.
